Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Greetings to you all. Recently I received not encouraging email from my first pastor Rev. John Kim (email attached below). Rev. John Kim came to Uzbekistan as a missionary minister in 1992, right after soviet union collapsed in 1991. By God's grace and help Rev. Kim was able to plant Presbyterian Church Mahnmin (translated as: Many-Nations; in Korean) in very small town name Doustlik (former name is Politotdel). It's about 6 miles from my town. Over the years church grow numerically (currently around 200-250 members) and spiritually. I was also growing up and was baptized there. Dear Brothers and Sister, please pray for the leaders and the congregation of the Presbyterian Church Mahnmin. They need your prayer support. In X, Eugene Koh RE: From: John Kim
Dearly beloved brothers and sisters of Mahnmin Church, Currently, my wife and I are in Chicago preparing for my D.Min. dissertation defence at RTS. We are doing well. But I am writing to you in regards to a grave issue confronting us today. About a week after we left Uzbekistan, Mahnmin church and the Seed Kindergarten were investigated by the SMV. During the first investigation, praise songs were found on the Seed computers, so they took 10 of our computers (which they have not yet returned). But 3 weeks later, they found a another problem with Mahnmin Church. Last Friday, June 20, the SMV called Polina and told her that they're having issue with the books in Mahnmin's reading room. According to them, the books cannot be read in the church because it is about evangelism. So they took our church registration and gave us notice that Mahnmin church must move to another church or must go to trial at the court. If Mahnmin does not, all the church's property will be seized by the Uzbek government. So Mahnmin is going through a very difficult time which only our Heavenly Father can resolve. Please pray for the Mahnmin church. My heart is so sad and my thoughts heavy with the difficulties facing Mahnmin church. We have been asking all our supporters and everyone at Mahnmin to join together in prayer, asking and seeking God to resolve these issues. Please join us in prayer for our church as well. Sincerely in Christ, John & Lily Kim
